2007 Q Song Awards Winners announced!

Queensland’s finest songwriters were recognized last night at the 2nd annual Q Song Awards held at The Tivoli in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.
The state’s music community was out in force to celebrate Queensland’s established and emerging artists as the winners of the 2007 Q Song awards were announced.
The night belonged to Cairn’s teenager Emma-Louise Lobb who took out both the Starving Kids/Audio Embassy Secondary School Award and the Courier-Mail People’s Choice Award for her song Kim’s Song and moved the audience with her heartfelt rendition of her winning song.
Meanwhile, local rock legend Tim Steward took out both the Skinny’s/Rockinghorse Alternative Award and Ellaway’s Song of the Year for his song Not the Same from his debut solo album How Does It End.
Kev Carmody was recognized for his lifetime commitment to songwriting taking out the Grant McLennan Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Grates managed to outdo Powderfinger and The Butterfly Effect by taking out the Published Song of the Year Award with Science is Golden while Kate Bradley showed up the boys by taking out the Modern Music Rock Award with the track No Start/Red Light from her forthcoming debut album.
Small Mercies and The Quickening delivered blistering performances and The Gin Club closed out the night to rapturous applause.
